Holiday Giving

Event Details

There are many ways to give of our time, talent and treasure this holiday season. At Our Saviour we want to be a beacon of Christian vitality for Mandarin and the Diocese of Florida. We encourage all of our members to look over the different opportunities below and help wherever possible.

Live Nativity Volunteers - December 9th and 10th

Have you ever thought of being part of the greatest story ever told? You now

have your chance as well as helping to proclaim the Gospel. Our Live Nativity will be presented Friday, December 9th and Saturday, December 10th and we could use your help. We still have parts to be cast. As this is a two-day event, we need multiple people for each speaking part such as Mary, Joseph, the shepherd, Melchior, Mary Magdalene, the centurion, and the town crier. We have nonspeaking parts available as well - Mary, Joseph, shepherds, and kings. There are numerous support parts as well: golf cart drivers, greeters, food, and people to restock the tree during the night.

So please join us on the 9th and 10th for the Greatest Story Ever Told.

Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign

The Red Kettle Campaign helps the Salvation Army raise money for those who need it most in our community - providing toys for kids, coats for the homeless, meals for the hungry and countess other social service programs year-round.

Our Saviour will be ringing the bells from Wednesday, November 30 through Friday, December 2 at the Mandarin Oaks Publix. Please look for the table after services on Nov.6 and Nov. 20 to sign up for a shift.

St. Mary's Christmas for All

St. Mary’s serves approximately 125 households a week in their food pantry. Many are retired seniors who walk to St. Mary’s to receive food. These seniors often care for their grandchildren and other family members and this Christmas we would like to support them, as well as younger families in the community. This year we are asking the Church of Our Saviour  to purchase new items for adults in the St. Mary’s community to choose from to brighten their Christmas. We thank you for your support!

Suggested Items include:

  • Cozy blankets
  • Kitchen towels
  • Costume jewelry
  • Socks
  • Slippers
  • Hand warmers
  • Kitchen utensils
  • Scented candles
  • Body lotion kits
  • Full sized shampoo and conditioner
  • Winter hats

Boxes will be in the Great Hall to accept your unwrapped gifts starting Thanksgiving weekend through December 4th.

Annual Beauty Items Drive

Women's Ministry Council is once again sponsoring a Beauty Items Donation Drive for Ladies in need of a little Christmas Cheer at Her Song, Hubbard House, Betty Griffin Center, City Rescue Mission, and St. Andrews Episcopal Church (Interlachen). We will be collecting on Sundays between November 27th - December 11th. Please pick up your gift bag and then return your donated Beauty Items valued at $5-$10 (or cash and we will do your shopping!) on Sundays by December 11th so we can deliver gifts by December 13th. Thank you so much for your support and generosity! Please contact Kathy Daber if you have any questions at kdwilber@gmail.com.

Christmas Flower Donations

If you wish to donate poinsettias to adorn the Church for Christmas in memory of a loved one or in thanksgiving for a blessing, you may do so by completing the information on a donation envelope which can be found in the pews, in the back of the church and in the office. The deadline for turning your envelopes in is December 11th!
